Back to School

It's that time, again...being both a mom and a teacher, I have mixed feelings about the end of summer. I love to have the children out of the house so that I get more done, but I miss 'em. I love to teach the boys at school, but then I have less time to paint. It's a time of transition, and until I know that all of us are happily back into a schedule I'll be discombobulated.

However, I'm essentially done with LLAMA LLAMA MAD AT MAMA, and I am happy with it. GRUMPY GLORIA comes out in a few weeks, and I'll be posting the signing schedule for that. But - best of all - I know that I'll be doing my "manners" book after LLAMA LLAMA MISSING MAMA....yay!

Llama days of summer

Well, I've given up the idea of an actual BLOG, since I can't get past the feeling that airing my particular thoughts is self-indulgent and a very odd thing to do. So, I am going to use this "blog" as an opportunity to let folks know what I am working on and when they can expect further installments of LLAMA books as well as new books that have nothing whatsoever to do with llamas.

LLAMA LLAMA MAD AT MAMA, the second little llama llama book, should be finished by the end of the summer. Correction: MUST to be finished by the end of the summer. I believe it comes out during the summer of 2007, but don't hold me (or Viking) to that. I am having a tremendous amount of fun with it; it is a very different palette that either LLAMA LLAMA RED PAJAMA or GRUMPY GLORIA...actually, it may be inspired - in a way - by my garden this year, which is a wild profusion of daylillies, hollyhocks, and soft, rich color. At any rate, I am having a great time painting it, and it makes me giggle as I go, which is always a good sign.
